Best Hotels in Hvar, Croatia: My 2026 picks for Luxury, Boutique & Beach Stays on Hvar
If you’ve never been to Hvar before, selecting the best hotel on Hvar for your stay can be a daunting task. There are just so many options to choose from! But fret not, I’ve got your back.
I’ve visited Hvar several times and spent a full month on the island, and honestly? I’d go back in a heartbeat!
For most first-time visitors, Hvar Town has the best hotel selection, especially if you want easy access to restaurants, nightlife, boat tours, and the Pakleni Islands. And I still choose it for my return visits. But if you want a calmer, more polished escape, Stari Grad has some of Hvar’s best resort-style stays.
Below, I’ve broken down the top Hvar hotels by area and travel style, including luxury hotels, boutique stays, beach resorts, family-friendly options, and quieter places that make more sense if you have a car or want to slow down.
This guide is not just a list of pretty hotels. It is a practical breakdown of the best hotels in Hvar by area, budget, and travel style, with honest notes on who each place is actually best for.

In a hurry?
Hvar town is the best place to base yourself and the one with the best hotels on the island. These are the Hvar hotels I’d check first, depending on the kind of trip you’re planning.
Best 5-star hotel in Hvar Town | Palace Elisabeth
Best boutique luxury | Hotel Moeesy, Blue & Green Oasis
Best beach resort | Amfora Hvar
Best spa hotel in Hvar Town: Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel
Mid-Range | Heritage Hotel Dea Hvar
Stari grad | Maslina Resort
New in 2026 | Sirena Resort Hvar
Where Are the Best Hotels in Hvar?
The best hotels in Hvar are mostly split between Hvar Town, the coast just outside Hvar Town, and Stari Grad. For most visitors, these are the three areas I’d focus on first. They have the best mix of location, restaurants, ferry access, beaches, boat trips, and actual hotel options.
There are quieter places to stay around the island too, including Milna, Jelsa, Vrboska, and more remote bays, but these make more sense if you have a car, want a slower trip, or are happy being further from the main Hvar action.
- Hvar Town: Best for first-timers, nightlife, restaurants, boat trips, boutique hotels, and luxury harbor stays. This is where you’ll find the biggest hotel choice and the most polished stay options, but it’s also the busiest and most expensive area in peak season.
- Stari Grad: Best for calmer stays, romantic trips, wellness hotels, better value, and exploring by car. It’s quieter and more local than Hvar Town, with a pretty harbor, stone alleys, a long riva, good restaurants, and easier access to vineyards, bays, and the rest of the island.
- Quieter towns and bays: Best for slow travel, swimming, wineries, glamping, and remote resort stays. Milna, Jelsa, Vrboska, and the quieter bays can be lovely if you want peace and better value, but they work best if you have a car or don’t mind being further from Hvar Town’s ferries, restaurants, and nightlife.
| Hotel | Area | Best for | Why book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Palace Elisabeth | Hvar Town | classic luxury | central, historic, polished |
| Hotel Moeesy, Blue & Green Oasis | Hvar Town | boutique luxury and beach | pool, spa, refined and intimate |
| Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel | Hvar Town | spa / harbor views | rooftop bar, wellness, location |
| Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort | Hvar Town | pools / resort feel | huge pool, beach club access |
| Maslina Resort | Stari Grad | quiet luxury | design hotel, peaceful bay |
| Beach Bay Hvar Hotel | Hvar Town | sea views / adults-only feel | waterfront, smaller scale |
| Riva Marina Hvar Hotel | Hvar Town | nightlife / harbor | central and social |
Best Luxury and 5-Star Hotels in Hvar
If you’re searching for the best luxury hotels in Hvar, the two that stand out most clearly to me are Palace Elisabeth and Hotel Moeesy. They’re both fabulous 5 star hotels in Hvar with high-end service, polished design, and close to Hvar Town, but they suit very different trips.
If you want the most central 5-star hotel in Hvar Town, Palace Elisabeth is the obvious splurge. If you want a quieter, more resort-style luxury hotel near Hvar Town, Hotel Moeesy is the better fit.
Hotel Moeesy, Blue & Green Oasis | 5*
Best for: boutique luxury near Hvar Town with pools, greenery, and a quieter resort feel
Location: Hvar town, just outside the Old Town along the coast
Pool/beach: two outdoor pools, wellness area, sea access nearby
Key Facilities: infinity pool with panoramic views, spa with sauna and steam room, fitness center, restaurant, bar
Hotel Moeesy is one of those hotels that made my jaw drop when I first saw it. And trust me, yours probably will too. It has that polished blue-and-white Hvar look, with sea views, lush greenery, elegant rooms, and a calmer setting just outside the busiest part of Hvar Town.
I’d book Hotel Moeesy if you want something more refined and intimate than a big resort, but still want proper hotel facilities.
The location is also a big part of the appeal. You’re close enough to walk into Hvar Town for dinner, drinks, boat trips, and the harbor, but far enough out that it feels more peaceful than staying right on the Riva.
For me, that’s the sweet spot if you want the glamorous side of Hvar without being right in the middle of the peak-season chaos.

Palace Elisabeth, Hvar Heritage Hotel | 5*
Best for: polished 5-star luxury in the heart of Hvar Town
Location: Hvar Town, right by the main square and harbor
Pool/beach: indoor pool and spa, but not a beach hotel
Key facilities: spa, indoor pool, terrace restaurant, bar, sea-view rooms, central harbor location
Palace Elisabeth is the grand dame of Hvar Town hotels. It’s often described as the first 5-star hotel on Hvar, and it sits in what was once part of the residential complex of the Duke’s Palace, right on the main square.
This is not just a nice hotel in a good location. It’s one of the most iconic buildings in the center of town. It feels more like a boutique resort than a classic town hotel, which is exactly why it works so well for couples or anyone who wants a stylish base without being right on the Riva.
I’d book Palace Elisabeth if you want to step outside and immediately be in the middle of Hvar’s prettiest streets, restaurants, bars, waterfront, and boat-trip action. You’re also right below the walk up to the Spanish Fortress, which is still one of my favorite views in Hvar, no matter how many times I go back.
For me, this is the best hotel in Hvar for location, history, and that polished old-world feelingas long as budget is not the painful part. It’s elegant, central, and properly special, but it is very much a peak-season splurge. If you want space, beach access, big pools, and a quieter resort feel, I’d look at Moeesy or Amfora instead.

Best Beach Hotels, Resorts and Hotels with Pool in Hvar
If you’re looking for beach hotels in Hvar, Hvar resorts or hotels in Hvar with pool, there’s one thing to know first: Hvar is not a long sandy beach resort island. Most beaches here are pebbly, rocky, or built around coves, bathing platforms, and beach clubs.
That is why I’d pay close attention to the actual pool and beach setup before booking. A hotel “near the beach” in Hvar can mean anything from a proper resort pool and beach club nearby to a rocky swimming spot down the road. In peak summer, a good pool or easy sea access can make a huge difference.
Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort | 4*
Best for: resort facilities, pools, sea views, and staying near Hvar Town without being in the Old Town
Location: Hvar town, just outside the Old Town along the coast
Pool/beach: huge cascading pool, public pebble beach in front, Bonj ‘les bains’ beach club in Amfora Bay
Key facilities: cascading pool, seaside dining, bars, gym, beach club access, newly renovated rooms for 2026
Amfora is the hotel I’d look at if you want the full Hvar resort setup without giving up easy access to Hvar Town. It sits just outside the busiest part of town, so you get sea views, beach access, a huge pool area, and more breathing room than you’ll find in the Old Town itself. Also, they just renovated so you’ll get brand new rooms in 2026.
I’d book Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort if you want a proper pool-and-beach holiday, but still want to walk into Hvar Town for dinner, drinks, boat trips, and the harbor. That balance is the whole point here. You’re not right on the Riva, but you’re not stranded in a quiet bay either.
I loved the big cascading pool area and you get access to Bonj ‘les bains’, Hvar’s iconic 1930s beach club. Beach access itself is free, but loungers, umbrellas, pontoons, and those photogenic stone cabanas cost extra.
For me, Amfora makes the most sense if you want comfort, facilities, sea views, and a resort feel more than old-town charm. If you want something smaller and more intimate, I’d look at Moeesy. If you want to be right in the middle of Hvar Town, Palace Elisabeth or Riva are better fits.

Beach Bay Hvar Hotel | 4*
Best for: a smaller waterfront stay in Hvar Town with sea views and a calmer location
Location: Hvar Town, near the Franciscan Monastery and just a short walk from the Riva
Pool/beach: no pool, but beach access nearby
Key facilities: restaurant, bar, sun terrace, eco-friendly features, sea-view rooms and suites
Beach Bay Hvar Hotel is one of the best options I’d look at if you want to stay in Hvar Town, but not right in the busiest part of the harbor. It sits near the Franciscan Monastery, just steps from the sea and the Riva, so you still get the convenience of town without being directly in the middle of the peak-season chaos.
I’d book Beach Bay Hvar Hotel if you want a stylish, smaller hotel with sea views, easy beach access nearby, and a more relaxed feel than the main waterfront hotels. It’s also worth noting that Beach Bay was designed with eco-friendly features, so it’s a good pick if you want something a little more sustainability-minded without going full remote eco-resort.
What I really like about this one is the setting. You’re close to the old town, restaurants, ferry, and boat trips, but you also have that little coastal pocket near the Franciscan Monastery right there. Plus, all rooms and suites have sea views, which makes a big difference in Hvar. If I’m paying Hvar prices, I want to actually see the sea.

Hotel Podstine | 4*
Best for: a quiet seafront stay near Hvar Town with private beach access
Location: Hvar Town outskirts, in a peaceful bay a short walk from the center
Pool/beach: private beach area, swimming pool, beach bar
Key facilities: private beach, outdoor pool, beach bar, restaurant, spa, seafront terrace
Hotel Podstine sits in a quiet bay on the outskirts of town, so you’re still close enough to walk or taxi in for dinner, drinks, boat trips, but you get a much more relaxed seaside setting.
I’d book Hotel Podstine if swimming and sea access are high on your list. The big selling point here is that it has its own private beach area, which is not something you can take for granted in Hvar.
For me, Podstine makes the most sense if you want a peaceful base near Hvar Town, with a pool, beach bar, spa, restaurant, and seafront terrac. It feels more like an easy island escape than a see-and-be-seen hotel, and honestly, that can be a very good thing in peak season.

Best Hotels in Hvar Town
For most first-time visitors, Hvar Town is the best place to stay in Hvar. This is where you’ll find the harbor, Old Town, Spanish Fortress, restaurants, bars, ferries, water taxis, and boat trips to the Pakleni Islands all packed into one very walkable area.
Hotels in Hvar Old Town are perfect if you want Hvar to feel easy, social, and scenic from the moment you arrive.
The only catch is that Hvar Town is also the busiest and most expensive base on the island. A hotel directly on the Riva is perfect if you want marina views, cocktails, and nightlife nearby, but I’d choose somewhere slightly tucked away if you want quieter nights in July or August.
Heritage Hotel Dea Hvar | 4*
Best for: boutique charm, warm service, and a central Hvar Town stay
Location: Hvar Old Town, a few steps from the Theatre, Arsenal, harbor, and main square
Pool/beach: no pool, but Franciscan Monastery Beach is about a 3-minute walk away
Key facilities: garden, shared lounge, bar, breakfast, air conditioning, family-run atmosphere
Heritage Hotel Dea is a small family-run boutique hotel in Hvar, set right in the heart of Hvar Town, and close to the harbor, Theatre, Arsenal, St. Stephen’s Square, restaurants, bars, and boat trips.
I’d book Heritage Hotel Dea Hvar if you want the convenience of Hvar Town but prefer a more intimate stay. The building has that mix of traditional Mediterranean character and modern updates, which works really well if you want charm without feeling like you’ve accidentally booked a museum room.
For me, this is a strong boutique pick because it gives you the practical side of Hvar Town without the big-hotel energy. You’re close enough to everything, including the beach by the Franciscan Monastery, but the hotel itself feels more tucked away and low-key, and the service is very personal.
If you want pools, spa facilities, or a full beach-club setup, choose Amfora, Podstine, Moeesy, or Adriana instead.
Check prices and availability at Hotel Dea
Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel | 4*
Best for: spa, rooftop views, and a stylish central stay
Location: Hvar Town waterfront, overlooking the marina
Pool/beach: rooftop pool and spa, but not a beach hotel
Key facilities: 1,600 m² Sensori Spa, rooftop pool, rooftop bar, gym, restaurant, marina views
Adriana is one of the best hotels in Hvar if you want a stylish stay with a proper spa focus. It sits right on the waterfront overlooking the marina, so you get that classic Hvar Town view: boats, stone buildings, palm trees, and the harbor buzzing below.
I’d book Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel if you want to be close to restaurants, bars, boat trips, and the old town, but still want somewhere that feels more grown-up and wellness-focused than a straight party base. The Sensori Spa is my favorite. It offers a large indoor rooftop pool, treatment rooms, terraces, gym, and plenty of space to properly switch off.
I also have a soft spot for Adriana because I had one of my favorite coffee-and-view moments in Hvar from the rooftop bar here. The views over the harbor are gorgeous during the day, but I think they’re even better at dusk when the lights start coming on.
For me, Adriana is the hotel I’d choose if I wanted central Hvar Town convenience with a spa and rooftop views.

Heritage Hotel Park | 4*
Best for: old-town charm, central location, and a more characterful Hvar stay
Location: Hvar Town, in the historic center close to the harbor
Pool/beach: no pool or beach setup
Key facilities: restaurant, terrace, bar, heritage-style rooms, central location
Heritage Hotel Park is the one I’d look at if you want to stay right in Hvar Town but prefer something smaller and more characterful than the big-name waterfront hotels. It’s set in a historic building in the center, so you’re close to restaurants, bars, the harbor, and the old town without needing to plan your evening around taxis.
I’d book Heritage Hotel Park Hvar if you want charm, a good restaurant/terrace setup, and that classic old-town atmosphere. Some rooms have sea or city views, which is worth checking when you book because the right room will make this hotel feel much more special.
Check prices and availability at Hotel Park
Riva Marina Hvar Hotel | 4*
Best for: waterfront buzz, marina views, nightlife, and short Hvar Town stays
Location: directly on Hvar’s Riva waterfront promenade
Pool/beach: no pool or beach setup
Key facilities: BB Social Bar & Kitchen, BB Club, waterfront terrace, marina views, boutique rooms
Riva Marina sits right in the middle of Hvar’s waterfront scene on the Riva, so you’re steps from ferries, restaurants, bars, water taxis, boat trips, and the kind of yacht-watching Hvar is famous for.
I’d book Riva Marina Hvar Hotel for a short, stylish stay where convenience and atmosphere matter more than quiet.
The hotel itself has a modern boutique feel, but the real reason to stay here is location. You can have drinks by the waterfront, wander into the old town, book a boat to the Pakleni Islands, and come back without thinking about logistics.

Hotels in Stari Grad
Stari Grad is the best alternative to Hvar Town if you want a calmer base, better access to the rest of the island, and a stay that feels more local than glamorous.
You will enjoy Stari Grad if you care more about quiet evenings, restaurants, beaches, vineyards, and exploring by car than being right next to the nightlife.
Here are some of the best Hvar hotels in Stari Grad, perfect for those looking for a quieter getaway.
Maslina Resort | 5*
Best for: quiet 5-star luxury, wellness, and a slower Stari Grad stay
Location: Maslinica Bay, near Stari Grad
Pool/beach: two heated outdoor pools, including an infinity pool, plus beach access nearby
Key facilities: Pharomatiq Spa, restaurant, bar, wine and culture club, fitness room, gardens, rooms, suites and villas
Maslina is a luxurious eco-resort is nestled in a secluded bay surrounded by pine trees and olive groves near Stari Grad.
But the appeal here is not just that it’s luxurious. Hvar has plenty of expensive hotels. Maslina feels more intentional: natural materials, calm design, spa time, sea views, local food, and slow mornings by the pool.
I’d choose Maslina Resort if you want proper 5-star comfort, but not in a glossy harbor-show-off kind of way.
For me, this is the strongest luxury hotel on Hvar if the goal is to switch off. You still have Stari Grad nearby, and Hvar Town is doable by car, bus or taxi, but you’re not staying at Maslina Resort to be in the middle of the action. You’re staying here to escape it, preferably with a glass of wine and absolutely no interest in fighting for a dinner table on the Riva.
Check prices and availability at Maslina Resort
B&B Heritage Villa Apolon | 4*
Best for: boutique character, a peaceful Stari Grad stay, and excellent food
Location: Stari Grad, close to the waterfront and old town
Pool/beach: no pool or beach setup
Key facilities: restaurant, terrace, bar, shared lounge, parking, elegant heritage-style rooms
B&B Heritage Villa Apolon is a completely different from the big resort hotels, and that is exactly why it deserves a place here. This charming pink villa sits near the edge of Stari Grad, close enough to wander to the harbor and old town, but far enough from the busier parts to feel peaceful.
I’d book B&B Heritage Villa Apolon if you care about character, quiet, and good food more than pools and spa facilities. The villa has that elegant old-world feel without being stiff, and it makes a lot of sense if you want to experience Stari Grad as more than just a place to sleep.
Even if you’re not staying here, come over for dinner at least once. Their restaurant has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide, which is worth knowing because Stari Grad is quietly becoming one of the better food bases on Hvar.
Check prices and availability at Villa Apolon
Valamar Amicor Green Resort | 4*
Best for: eco-conscious family resort near Stari Grad
Location: Stari Grad, near the port and waterfront
Pool/beach: outdoor pools and beach access nearby
Key facilities: pool, wellness access, restaurants and bars, playroom, kids club, modern villas, green resort concept
Valamar Amicor Green Resort is close to Stari Grad, so you get a calmer base than Hvar Town, but you still have restaurants, the waterfront, and ferry access nearby as well as modern villa-style accommodation, pools, restaurants, kids’ facilities, and space to spread out.
I’d book Valamar Amicor Green Resort for a family stay on Hvar. I wouldn’t choose it for a romantic trip, and I wouldn’t book it if I wanted Hvar Town nightlife outside my door. But for families who want pools, beach access, space, and a calmer Stari Grad base, it makes a lot of sense.
I also like that it has a proper eco-friendly focus, with greener building materials, solar energy, and a lower-impact resort concept. I’m always a bit skeptical when hotels throw “eco” around too casually, but Amicor does feel more intentional than most family resorts.

Best Quieter and Unique Stays on Hvar Island
Not every great stay on Hvar has to be in Hvar Town or Stari Grad. If you have a car, or you’re coming to Hvar for swimming, slow mornings, wine, and proper island downtime, the quieter villages and bays can make a lot of sense.
I wouldn’t choose these places if it’s your first trip to Hvar and you want ferries, nightlife, restaurants, and boat trips right outside your door. But if you want a calmer base, more space, and a different side of the island, these are the stays I’d look at.

Sirena Resort Hvar
Best for: a newly renovated beach resort near Hvar Town
Location: secluded cove near Hvar Town
Pool/beach: outdoor pool, pebble beach, sunbeds, private dock
Key facilities: pool, beach bar and restaurant, patisserie, gym, open-air yoga deck, outdoor massage, complimentary shuttle to Hvar Town, private docking
Sirena Resort Hvar is one of the most interesting new hotel options on Hvar for 2026. It has been completely reinvented as a beachfront resort in a secluded cove just outside Hvar Town, which makes it a strong pick if you want sea access and a calmer setting without being cut off from town.
What I like about Sirena Resort Hvar is that it fills a gap between the central Hvar Town hotels and the more remote island stays. You get the pool, pebble beach, beach bar, restaurant, patisserie, gym, yoga deck, and outdoor massage setup, but there’s also a complimentary shuttle into Hvar Town, so you’re not stuck relying on taxis every time you want dinner or drinks.
The private dock is another useful detail, especially if you’re arriving by boat or planning a more boat-heavy Hvar trip. I wouldn’t treat Sirena as a proven classic like Amfora or Palace Elisabeth yet, simply because the new version is still fresh. But if the reviews are good, this could easily become one of the best beach resort hotels near Hvar Town.
Plage Cachée Glamping
Best for: a unique, off-grid-feeling sea escape
Location: near Vrboska
Pool/beach: beach and sea access rather than classic hotel facilities
Key facilities: glamping tents, sea views, outdoor living, peaceful natural setting
Plage Cachée Glamping is not a classic hotel, but that’s exactly why I mention it. Hvar has plenty of polished hotels, but this is for the trip where you want something more low-key, nature-focused, and memorable.
This is the kind of stay that makes sense if your idea of Hvar is swimming, reading, eating outside, and waking up close to the sea rather than dressing up for cocktails on the Riva. It’s a very different experience and it won’t suit everyone.
Personally, I’d only choose Plage Cachée Glamping if I wanted to slow down properly and didn’t care about being close to towns, restaurants and bars. If you want convenience, skip it. If you want something quieter and more unique than another hotel room, this is the kind of place that makes the island feel special.
Aminess Senses Resort
Best for: a quiet beach resort stay near Vrboska
Location: near Vrboska
Pool/beach: outdoor pool and beach access nearby
Key facilities: outdoor pool, restaurant, bar, wellness area, sea views, bike rental, peaceful coastal setting
Aminess Senses Resort is a quieter beach-focused stay away from the Hvar Town scene. It’s near Vrboska, which is one of the island’s more peaceful villages, so the appeal here is swimming, sea views, pine trees, and slower days rather than glamour or nightlife.
For me, this makes the most sense if you have a car and want to explore the island at your own pace. You can visit Jelsa, Stari Grad, hidden bays, wineries, and smaller villages without constantly dealing with Hvar Town crowds or prices.
I wouldn’t book Aminess Senses Resort for a first-time, no-car Hvar trip where you want everything to be easy and central. But if you want a quieter resort stay with beach access and a more relaxed side of the island, it’s a useful option to have on your list.
